Evaluating projects and leveraging lessons learned are key success factors in effective project management. Government ICT Centre Valtori wanted to strengthen its project management model by incorporating post-evaluation into the project lifecycle. The objective was to create a practical operating model that supports the existing project management model and enables a better understanding of project impacts and the realization of benefits.
Collaborative Development for Comprehensive Insights and Impactful Outcomes
Taskmill supported Valtori’s PMO in creating a new process and identifying the steps necessary for scalable implementation on Valtori’s scale. The process was developed through co-creation, and three different types of projects participated in the pilot. The pilot offered a diverse view of the needs and challenges of various project types.
Participants found co-creation to be a solution-oriented and forward-moving development method. “We gained ideas from multiple perspectives,” commented one participant. According to another, the working approach was characterized by “a spirit of seeking solutions and a truly forward-moving attitude.”
Results: Clear Path towards Establishing Post-Evaluation
The collaboration resulted in a post-project review process tailored to Valtori’s needs, along with recommendations for the next steps to ensure successful implementation of the process.
Working with Taskmill was excellent. Their professional and systematic approach, with well-organized meetings, significantly advanced the development
noted Teemu Böös, Valtori’s Senior Specialist in Project Management.
Integrating the process into daily project operations is the next key step. It is expected that by monitoring benefit objectives, the quality of projects will improve, and the impacts of projects will support the achievement of goals in the long term.
